We reserve the right to increase these fees if mares and/or their foals require supplementary hard feed or hay, an additional charge of £3 per day will be levied

(1) All mares must have a clean cervical swab, have a valid certificate of vaccination against equine flu and tetanus, and be EVA negative. All certificates must accompany the mare to the Stud. The Stud advises that an endometrial swab is carried out as well. All swabs and blood tests, except EVA, as the result is required before the mare visits, can be performed by the Stud’s veterinary surgeon with the owner being charged accordingly.
(2) All shoes must be removed prior to arrival, farrier costs will be charged accordingly.
(3) Mares and foals will be wormed on arrival and every 6 weeks thereafter, and the owner charged accordingly. Mare owners are expected to arrange their own insurance in respect of their mares and, if applicable their foal, for the duration of their stay at Rocks Farm Stud. Whilst every care will be taken Rocks Farm Stud accepts no liability for accident, injury or disease.
(4) The Stud Fee is payable on arrival of mare or at least two weeks before semen is required to be sent out which then must include the delivery charge. Payment for any other costs must be made in full before departure of the Mare(s). All prices shown are exclusive of VAT at 17.5%. Acceptance and accommodation of mares/foals at the Stud is at our absolute discretion.
Artificial Insemination
Rocks Farm Stud offers Artificial Insemination at the stud or by the sending out of either fresh or chilled semen. The semen is collected from the stallion when required (to be notified by 10am the day collection is required), chilled immediately and transported at the mare owners cost. Transport is via an Equitainer for next day delivery. Insemination must take place within 72 hours under ideal conditions. No certificates will be released until the necessary forms are signed by the veterinary surgeon and returned. Dose supplied for insemination of one mare only. Additional mares charged at 100%. The Stud Fee is payable in full prior to the delivery of the semen. In addition, a collection and shipping charge of £70 is payable prior to delivery. The Equitainer is required to be returned as soon as possible, however if it is not received back at the Stud within 5 days an additional charge of £5 per day will be incurred and after 2 weeks the full cost of the Equitainer will be charged and payable immediately.
Quality of Semen
Semen is examined under microscope for motility and density. It will only be dispatched if considered of good quality. However no guarantee on the fertility can be given as so many other factors can affect the pregnancy result. We reserve the right to substitute Frozen Semen for Chilled Semen in the unusual event that Chilled Semen cannot be sent.
Cancellations
In the event of needing to cancel the nomination the Stud must be provided with a veterinary certificate stating the valid reason for the mare not being served then 50% of the Stud Fee will be retained by the Stud and 50% refunded to the client. Once the first shipment of semen has been sent out cancellation is not possible and strictly no refund is available under any circumstances. In the highly unusual event of your chosen Stallion being unavailable, frozen semen will be substituted or alternatively at the clients choice, may be substituted with another Stallion at Rocks Farm Stud, which may incur a higher stud fee being due.
